Our Clinical Specialities
Everyone has their passions, here are some of ours:
Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
Alternative and Augmentative Communication, also known as AAC, is any form of communication used to supplement or replace verbal communication. AAC can be "No-Tech” or “Low-Tech,” as with use of sign language or writing, or it can be “High-Tech,” usually as tablets with communication programming. Regardless of its form, the key to successful AAC use is consistency and education both for the AAC user and the listener. With the support of Beetle and Hare, AAC can be a wonderful bridge to communication for children of all ages and abilities.
Parent-Taught Early Language Intervention
You are your child’s first and most important teacher. Collaboration and parent-coaching offer a solution by teaching YOU the best ways to support your child’s language development all throughout their day.
So what does that look like? It looks like setting your space up for success and knowing the best times to attempt techniques. It looks like learning to speak their language and providing them the opportunities to grow while growing closer through play. Whether through our Parent-Taught Groups (coming soon) or individual therapy sessions, Beetle and Hare is here to help.
Strength-Based Stuttering Therapy
Stuttering is the tense and arrhythmic production of speech sounds due to differences in the speaker’s brain and body. Sounds can be repeated, stretched, or stopped entirely; however, being a person who stutters does not mean being an ineffective communicator. Developed over decades and only recently shared widely, strength-based stuttering therapy focuses on building strong foundations of communication, education, and self-advocacy. Support is also available to the caregivers and educators of our clients in our care as means of supporting them on all sides.
