“But will it actually work?”

The Short Answer: Yes

Parent-coaching via teletherapy isn't just convenient—research shows it produces equal or comparable outcomes to traditional therapy.
Here's why it works so well:

Traditional therapy: Your child gets 30-60 minutes of practice per week in an unfamiliar setting.

Parent-coaching teletherapy: You learn strategies that work during meals, playtime, bath time, and bedtime—giving your child language-rich interactions throughout their entire day in the environment where communication naturally happens.

The research backs it up: A comprehensive review by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association found that parent-implemented language interventions produce significant positive effects on children's language development (Roberts & Kaiser, 2011). Studies also show parent-coached children make measurable communication gains in as little as 12 weeks (Stadnick et al., 2015).

“What Does a Session Actually Look Like?”

    • You'll receive a reminder with any prep - usually just to have some of your child’s favorite toys on hand.

    • Sessions happen via secure, HIPAA-compliant video —no special software needed on your end, just click the provided link or login to your patient portal and you’re good to go!

    • Your child doesn't need to sit still or stare at a screen

    • We focus on strategies that fit YOUR routines and YOUR child's interests

    • Your speech therapist will demonstrate and explain techniques

    • You play with your child while your SLP observes and coaches you in real-time

    • You get a summary of what we worked on

    • 2-3 specific strategies to practice throughout the week

    • Messaging support between sessions if questions come up

    • Not screen time for your child

    • Not lectures or passive learning for you

    • Not generic advice—everything is customized to your family

“What if my toddler won’t sit still?”

Perfect. They shouldn’t.

Teletherapy for young children isn't about getting them to perform for a camera. It's about teaching YOU strategies that work in real life:

Child and adult playing with wooden stacking rings and number blocks on the floor.

Your toddler wanders to the toy bin?

Great—Beetle & Hare will show you how to turn that into a language opportunity.

A woman and a young girl in a kitchen with gray tiled wall, preparing a snack. The girl is spreading peanut butter on bread, smiling, while the woman looks on with a surprised expression.

They're more interested in their snack?

Even better—mealtimes are gold for language development.

A woman and a young boy touching their foreheads together in a loving moment in a bright living room.

They won't look at the screen?

They don't need to. This is about coaching you, their attention to the screen is not required.

“What Do I Need?”

    • A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera

    • Decent internet connection (if you can stream your favorite shows, you're good)

    • We use secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms—no downloads required

    • Anywhere your child feels comfortable

    • Living room floor, kitchen table, playroom—wherever works for your family

    • You don't need a quiet, distraction-free space (real life is messy, and that's okay)

    • 30-minute sessions, scheduled at times that work for YOU

    • No commute time means you get back an hour of your day

“What About Insurance?”

Get Started
From booking to therapy in under a week.

Compare that to the 2-6 month waitlists at most clinics—where you wait months just for an evaluation, then wait again to start services.

Early intervention works best when it's actually early. Why spend another three months wondering what to do when you could start making progress this week?

“Just one more question…”
  • "Is teletherapy covered by insurance?"

Yes! Most plans cover teletherapy at the same rate as in-person. We'll verify your benefits before you start.

  • "What if we need in-person instead?"

Families in the Austin metro area can choose in-person sessions. We'll discuss what's best for your child during the evaluation.

  • "How long are sessions?"

30 minutes for most early language sessions but this can be flexible to meet the needs of the child. We’ll discuss the best course of action during the evaluation.

  • "What if I have more than one child at home?"

That's real life! We'll work with you on strategies to make sessions manageable—and honestly, siblings often pick up strategies too.

  • "Can grandparents or other caregivers join the sessions?"

Absolutely! The more people who learn the strategies, the better.

  • "What if my internet cuts out?"

We'll reconnect and pick up where we left off. If it happens frequently, we'll problem-solve together or adjust scheduling.

  • "Do you see children with my child's diagnosis?"

We work with children with autism, Down syndrome, language delays, articulation disorders, and more. If you're unsure if we're the right fit, book a free 15-minute consultation call.

  • "How is this different from other teletherapy platforms?"

Most teletherapy platforms deliver traditional therapy through a screen—the therapist works directly with your child via video. We focus on parent coaching instead, which is more effective for early language development via teletherapy. Many families come to us after trying direct teletherapy elsewhere with little progress, then see significant gains with parent coaching because you're implementing strategies all day in real life, not just during a 30-minute screen session.

I was hesitant about teletherapy at first, but it's been great. By taking what Beetle and Hare taught me and practicing a little every day, everything has changed.
